To create a new site with your copy of Actinic, go to 'File | Sites'.
To license a new Actinic site, click the 'License New Site.' button and give your new site a name in the 'Name' field. If you are using Actinic Catalog or Actinic Business, then you will need to enter a new license key - see below. If you are using Actinic Designer, then the 'Authorisation Key' field will already be populated with your Designer license key.
Note: If you are running in pre-configured mode (e.g. a trial copy of Actinic - see Pre-configured (Trial) Copies of Actinic) then you will also be prompted to enter a username and password here. You receive these when you register online for hosting. Contact whoever sold you the software for more details.
Click 'OK' when ready. Your new site will be added to the list.
Click 'Activate' to switch between sites.
Click 'Delete' to remove a site. You cannot remove the site that is currently active.
The 'Sites Directory' button (if present) is explained in Setting Up Multi-User Order Processing.
You can rename a site by clicking a site name, waiting a second, and clicking on the site name again. At this point the site name will be editable. Make a change then press [Enter] on the keyboard. The current site cannot be renamed.
Click 'Done' when finished.
Actinic Catalog and Actinic Business have a per site license. This means the license key belongs to the site that you create with the software, which means that you need a new license key for each site you create. This also means you are able to use the same key on two machines - with one machine uploading to the site, and the other machine downloading the orders - see Orders In Actinic.
Actinic Designer is a per machine license. This means you can create and maintain as many sites you want on the one machine using Actinic Designer. This also means you can run as many live sites as you want on the one PC. The issue comes if you have designed a site for a client using Designer, and you want to hand over control of that site to a client. In that case, they are going to need a license of Actinic that belongs to them - either Actinic Catalog or Actinic Business (depending on what the client wants to do with the store).
