What Do You Need To Get Your Store Online?

Note: The instructions in this section will be applicable to the majority of web sites, but they won't be applicable to all. If you find they don't work for your website then you will need to contact your web hosting company. Also, if you are using a pre-configured (trial) copy of Actinic, then go to Pre-configured (Trial) Copies of Actinic.

When the Actinic store is uploaded to your web site, the files are uploaded to two folders on your website:

·      A 'CGI' folder - often called 'cgi-bin' - where all the script files will be uploaded to in order to run the online search, shopping cart and checkout. These files are sometimes referred to as 'Perl files'.

·      A folder called 'acatalog' - Actinic will create this folder - it where all your store HTML files and images will be stored.

Note: You have the option to upload your 'home' brochure page to the directory level above the 'acatalog' folder'. See Creating A Brochure Page for more.

Before you try uploading your store you need to know:

·      The URL ('http' address) of your CGI folder.

·      Where the CGI folder is located on your web server (as it appears when you connect via an FTP program).

You will also need to know:

·      The FTP location of the folder on your website that you would like the 'acatalog' folder to be created within.

·      The URL ('http' address) of the folder that you would like the 'acatalog' folder to be created within.

If you are not aware of what settings you need, we recommend that you send an email to your ISP or Web-Host requesting the settings that are appropriate to your site. A suggested email is provided in the Actinic installation directory within the file called 'Mail2hst.txt'.

When you know these pieces of information, make a note of them somewhere and then start the 'Web Site Configuration Wizard'.

·      For information about the 'Web Site Configuration Wizard' go to The 'Web Site Configuration' Wizard.

·      For information about the fields in 'Web | Network Setup' go to Editing Your Network Settings.

·      For information about SSL settings, go to Correct SSL Configuration.
