Uploading Your Online Store

Once you have entered your web site details into Actinic (as described in What Do You Need To Get Your Store Online?, The 'Web Site Configuration' Wizard and Editing Your Network Settings) you are ready to upload your online store.

Click the  button on the toolbar or else go to 'Web | Update Website'. This will upload the latest changes to the online store. The 'Publish' window will show the progress of the upload.

The first time you do this it may take a little while (depending on the speed of your connection) but then subsequent updates will only upload the data that has changed since the last update.

If you want to upload absolutely everything required for your online store to run (regardless of whether or not it is up there already) then go to 'Web | Refresh Website'. This is called a 'refresh' and is normally used when the online store is missing files. This may take a while to complete, depending on the speed of your connection and the size of your online store.

If you do a refresh, you will be given the option to exclude images and digital download files from the refresh. This can save a lot of time.

Once uploading is complete, click the  button on the toolbar to view your online store (or go to 'Web | Browse Website').

Adding Additional Files To The Upload

Any file that is specifically referenced from within Actinic, or from within a template, is automatically uploaded to the web site. However, if a file has not been uploaded that you need, you can add it to the 'Additional Files' list.

·      Go to 'Design | Additional Files'.

·      Click the 'Add' button to locate a file for uploading.

The file can be located on any local or remote drive. Any number of files can be selected. They will be transferred to the web site during the next update or refresh. If the file has been modified since the last upload then it will be transferred again during the next upload.

Click 'Remove' to remove a file from the 'Additional Files' list.

Passive Transfer Errors

If the 'Ignore Passive Transfer Errors' field is selected in the 'Web | Network Setup.' window, if there are any transfer errors (such as missing files) during the upload then they will be listed at the end of the upload.

Errors are reported one per row and divided into two columns, the error message and the file in error. Clicking and dragging the separators in the headers can expand the column widths. There is a separator to the right of each column. Most error messages are truncated until the column is expanded. Once the errors have been corrected, re-run the upload. Only the affected files will be uploaded.

Click an entry in the 'File' column followed by the 'View' button to see the problem in a separate window.
