Setting Up Multi-User Order Processing

Actinic has the ability to allow multiple users to connect to a single Actinic database and process orders.

General order processing features are discussed in Order Processing Overview.

People can either be logged in as an 'Administrator' or an 'Order Processor'. Administrators have full control of the Actinic installation, but only one Administrator can log in at once. Order Processors only have access to the order processing functionality within Actinic.

Connecting to an Existing Actinic Database

When you first start Actinic, you are shown the 'Sites Directory' screen. This screen allows you to specify the location of the 'Sites' folder. This is the folder which contains the 'Site1' (or equivalent folder) which has the 'ActinicCatalog.mdb' database in it that you want to connect to.

Use the 'Browse' button to locate the folder which contains the 'Site1' (or equivalent) folder that you want to connect to. Then click 'OK'.

Actinic will then start and ask you for a username and password. Enter the username and password given to you by your network administrator.

Actinic will then start.

Creating a New Shared Actinic Database

When you first start Actinic, you are shown the 'Sites Directory' screen. If you want to create a new shared database then select the folder on your PC/network that you want to create the 'Site1' folder in, and then click 'OK'.

Alternatively, if you want to start working on the Actinic database locally, and then share it later, then leave the default value in the 'Directory' field e.g. 'C:\Program Files\Actinic v8\Sites'.

Actinic will then start and you will need to enter the default administrator username and password. These are:

·      Username: Administrator

·      Password: Administrator
