Actinic Business and Designer allow you to apply discounts on certain groups of products. For example, you may offer 'Buy one get one free' on CDs, or 'Three for the price of two' on books.
Information about creating discounts based on products selected is in Discounts Based On Products Ordered. Before you can apply this type of discount, however, you must inform Actinic about the groups of products in your store that you want to assign discounts to.
Go to 'Marketing | Product Groups'.
In the list at the left, you can click 'New' and enter a new group name in the field provided.
To remove a group from the list, highlight a group and click 'Remove'.
Once you have created a group, you can start putting products into it.
In the 'Members' list are all the members of the current product group.
The list on the right contains all the products in the store. Use '<' to add the currently-selected product/section to the 'Members' list. Use '>' to remove the currently selected product from the 'Members' list.
You can apply filters to the list of available products using the drop-down.
Field |
Meaning |
Unassigned Products |
This will only show the products that are not members of any group yet. |
All Products |
This will show all products, regardless of if they are in a group or not. |
Section Only |
This will list all the sections in your store. If you select a section and press '<' then all the products in that section will be added to the 'Members' list. |
Section and Hierarchy |
This will list all the sections in your store. If you select a section and press '<' then all the products in that section, and all the sections within it, will be added to the 'Members' list. |
Alternatively, enter a search term in the 'Search' field to find a product in the list. You can enter a product reference in this field. Click 'Find' to start the search, and click 'Next' to go to the next found item in the list.
Note: The search will only search through the list of products/sections that is currently visible.
You can see the product group(s) that a product has been assigned to by looking at the 'Product Group' field within the 'Discount' tab of a product. For more details, go to Product Discounts.
Select the 'Only Apply One Discount Online For This Group' box if you only want this product group to incur one type of discount online. This will mean the contents of the cart will incur the first discount it qualifies for, and then incur no other discounts on this product group.
For instance, if a certain product qualifies for 'buy one get one free', but also applies for 'three for the price of two', then it will only incur the 'buy one get one free' discount as that is the one it will qualify for first.
