Actinic has the ability to split an order into several packages. It will then work out the shipping charge on each package individually, before adding all the charges together.
The online store can split the order into several packages automatically. To do this, enter a weight in the 'Optimal Package Weight' field in 'Business Settings | Shipping and Handling | Configuration'. This is the maximum weight that will Actinic will allow in a package. More details are in Calculating Shipping Based on Weight/Volume.
You can also click the 'Ship Separately' box in the 'Details' tab of a product if you want the product to go in its own separate package.
You can review and edit the order packaging and packaging contents within the 'Shipping and Handling' tab of an order.
The 'Order Packaging' grid lists the packages that the order has been split into. Most of the time there will be just one row in this grid.
The 'Package Contents' field gives you the contents of the currently-selected package.
