In order for Actinic to generate and send emails successfully, you need to fill in an SMTP server name in the 'SMTP server' field in 'Web | Network Setup'. You are also able to enter a username and password for the SMTP server if this is required by your Web Host/ISP.
The SMTP server you specify must be the mail server that is provided by your web-hosting company.

All emails are sent as if they are from the address in the 'Email Address' field in 'Business Settings | Company/Contact'.
The online store has the ability to generate emails. These emails are:
· An email receipt sent to retail (unregistered) customers confirming their purchase. This is activated with the 'Send Receipt Email to Customer' checkbox in 'Business Settings | Ordering'. The layout for this email is called 'Customer Email', and it can be accessed from the 'Design' tab.
· An email sent to the store owner whenever there is a new order to download. This is generated and sent whenever a new order is placed, but is not sent for every order that is placed. This email is activated with the 'Email Required on New Order' checkbox in 'Business Settings | Ordering'. The content of this email is in 'Design | Text' - search for "Catalog Order Received".
· An email receipt sent to customer account buyers when they place an order. This is activated with the 'Send Email Confirmation of Orders' checkbox in the 'Buyers' tab of a customer account. The layout for this email is called 'Buyer Email', and it can be accessed from the 'Design' tab.
· An email containing order details sent to the main account contact when one of the buyers in the account places an order. This is activated with the 'Send Email for Every Order Placed' checkbox in the 'Account' tab of a customer account. The layout for this email is called 'Administrator Email', and it can be accessed from the 'Design' tab.
Actinic has the ability to generate and send emails from the desktop application. This is discussed in Creating Emails In Actinic.
