Every product in Actinic must have a unique product reference.
Note: Product duplicates are an exception to this rule. They refer back to the original product's reference.
When you first start using Actinic, a product reference is automatically assigned to each product. This is a sequential number.
The 'Reference' field of the product is greyed-out in this case, and the product reference will be assigned once you click 'Save' or 'Next'.
If you want to assign your own product references to products then you need to:
1. Go to 'Business Settings | Options'.
2. Locate the 'Product References' area in the top-right of the window.
3. De-select where it says 'Auto Generate Product References'
4. Click 'OK'.

You will now be able to assign each product its own product reference within the 'Reference' field of each product.
Your references can contain alphanumeric characters as well as '-' (hyphen) and '/' (forward slash).
The following characters can't be used:
