Duplicating Products

'Product Duplicates' allow you to have the same product in more than one section. They can be presented differently to the original product, but when you order the duplicate, it will have the same price as the original product. Crucially, for stock monitoring purposes (see Monitoring Stock), the stock monitoring system will treat the duplicate product as if it is the original one.

There are two ways to duplicate a product:

·      Right-click on a product you want to duplicate and select 'New Product Duplicate'. The duplicate will be created underneath. You can then move it to where you want it.

·      Right-click on a product you want to duplicate and select 'Copy' (or press [Ctrl + C] or go to 'Edit | Copy'). Then right-click where you want the duplicate to be created and select 'Paste As Duplicate' (or go to 'Edit | Paste As Duplicate').

Duplicate products appear like  in the content tree.

Resetting Duplicates

You might sometimes need to reset a product duplicate so it is identical to the master product it was created from.

·      To reset a single duplicate product, go to the duplicate and click the 'Reset' button.

·      To reset ALL duplicates of a master product, go to the master product and select 'Reset All Duplicates'.

Selecting the Settings to Duplicate

Actinic allows you to decide which settings within a product duplicate can be edited independently of the master product.

To do this, go to 'Duplicates Field Configuration' within the 'Settings' menu.

Within this window you will see a long list of all the settings within a product. Each one has a checkbox next to it. Leave the box selected if you want the field to be editable within a product duplicate.

If you have created any user-definable settings within a product (see Making Changes in Actinic) you will find these at the bottom of the list. The 'Prompt' you entered for the field will appear first, and then the variable name will appear afterwards in brackets.
