Database Backups

When you click the 'Database Backup' button (on the 'Shutting Down' window that you see when you exit Actinic) the following happens:

1.  Actinic will close.

2.  Your 'ActinicCatalog.mdb' file (the main Actinic database) is copied to the location you specified in the 'Backup Options' window (see below).

3.  The file is renamed to 'Backup.mdb'.

4.  If there is an existing 'Backup.mdb', this is renamed to 'Previous.mdb'.

5.  Any existing 'Previous.mdb' files are deleted.

The backup location is specified in the 'Backup Options' window. You can open this window by going to 'Housekeeping | Backup | Shutdown Backup Options' or by pressing the 'Options' button on the 'Shutting Down' window.

To restore from one of these backups, go to 'Housekeeping | Backup | Recover Database.'. Click 'OK' and then decide whether you want to restore from the 'Current Backup' or the 'Previous Backup'.

Actinic will close and the database you select will become the active Actinic database.

Note: This will overwrite any orders you have downloaded since you last made a backup.
